The Kilkenny Sustainable Art Show returns to An Chéad Tine Art Gallery from 10–25th May as part of the Living Earth Rising Bealtaine festival and in partnership with National Biodiversity Week and Kilkenny County Council. This vibrant exhibition will be officially opened by Gareth Kennedy, acclaimed artist, lecturer, and lead at NCAD FIELD, at 5 pm on Saturday, 10th May, followed by a poetry reading at 6 pm. Refreshments will be served, and all are warmly invited.

Curated by Mary Doyle Burke, the show invited submissions from artists across disciplines, all exploring sustainability - whether through material, message, or method.
Mary Doyle Burke shares,
“The large and high quality of entries this year is a testament to the incredible work Irish creatives and environmentalists are doing around sustainability. In this selection of artworks, you’ll encounter weaving with natural fibres, films reflecting our changing ecosystems, printing and painting with plant-based inks, biodiversity-themed paintings, sculptures from natural materials, installations, artist books, and poetry. As both curator and artist, I’m committed to circular practices that reduce waste, promote recycling, and champion sustainable materials. It’s a real joy to bring this exhibition to the public in its second year.”
For those making a day of it, don’t miss the beautiful opening beforehand across the Lady Dysart Bridge at the Butler Gallery at 3 pm, featuring artist Paul Boslag - well worth a visit if you’re in Kilkenny.
The Kilkenny Sustainable Art Show also offers a lively programme of events throughout its run:
Kilkenny Biodiversity Week — ReWild Kilkenny: a curator-led walk and talk around the city and along the River Nore. Free event.
Sustainable Workshops by exhibiting artists (€25 per person). Dates to be announced soon (watch our Instagram for updates.)
This exhibition is proudly funded by the Living Earth Rising Festival.
