Come join us here this November in a biomaterials workshop at An Cheád Tine Art Gallery space.
The workshop aims to learn how to manufacture bioplastics from organic waste (everyday household waste such as orange peels etc), as well as to show the multiple possibilities offered by this new material to your art practice or design practice and the benefits it has in substitution of other synthetic materials, to design and implement new sustainable solutions, focused on the real needs of people and the planet.
Participants will take home samples of the bioplastic made during the workshop, and then let the material dry so that they can experiment and put its characteristics to the limit, as well as innovate and find their own applications.
During the training, different materials made from different organic wastes and their possible applications will also be shown.
"Mary's art practice is guided by an enquiry into research of creating sustainable materials to build sculptures or installations in her own practice, as well as community engagement which involves innovative ways of bringing art and ecology based projects directly into the community and using art as a tool or an inspiration to awaken participation, regeneration and sustainable collaboration within a locality. Artists who participate in this beginner workshop will gain an understanding of biomaterials and their possible uses and can apply these back in their own practice or projects."
