In response to our works at Kilkenny Sustainable Art Show '24, curator Mary Doyle Burke invited the artists to collaboratively design a series of workshops on sustainability and biodiversity.

Myself & artist Marco Di Sante will facilitate an Organic Papermaking workshop. I look forward to this experience & transferring & sharing our practice & research into organic Papermaking with the participants who join us. The photo above is an organic paper created by Marco National College of Art and Design as primary research for his MFA. Marco created his paper early last year from wild grass & hay. I will demonstrate creating paper with wild reeds from the bog. Booking is essential as places are limited.
Workshops are as follows:
Saturday 1st of June, the first of a series of three workshops, alongside this exhibition, “Organic Paper Making Workshop” with Marco & Mary.
Then Jennie Castle on the 8th of June will do the “Biodiversity Charcoal Workshop” working on a reel of newsprint & sample of organic paper from the first workshop on Day 1.
Last but not least Mairead Holohan will do the “Pigment/dye-making from plants & printing/painting on the organic paper" that was created in the first workshop-June 15th.
€40 per workshop per person or €100 for all 3.
ReWILD Kilkenny
As part of her learning in a Prof. Diploma in Art & Ecology with Creative Futures Academy in which she is researching & expanding both her careers as Curator & Artist Mary Doyle Burke has put together a program for ReWILD Kilkenny day on Saturday 25th.
It will begin in the gallery at 11am. Artists Marco Di Sante, Jennie Castle and Mairead Holohan were invited to collaborate in this & we will hear more from the link in their practice in rewilding & biodiversity.
The day will extend from the gallery out into the city to observe and discuss some urban rewilding that Mary has been investigating over the last two months and recording in her diary. Members of the community and farming backgrounds who are also interested in sustainability will also share their stories on the day. An organically prepared lunch will be available for all. Bookings required for lunch, €20 per person.
