About the event

OPEN CALL - "Lines of the Land" Exhibition at An Chead Tine Art Gallery Kilkenny, July 24, selected and Co Curated by Mary Doyle Burke & Eamon Colman.

We invite emerging and professional artists from all over Ireland to respond to the above title of this upcoming Exhibition open to their open interpretations.

All forms of work can be entered, 2D painting, prints etc and 3D work of any form.

As an artist, do you use lines to define and also might that often contain fields of color, that capture a moment of stillness in an area or in the land.

What is land to you and how do you abstract it, firstly in the mind, in your thoughts and then on the canvas etc

Or do you introduce lines that are less complete, more active, only partially delineating forms, allowing colors to move and expand into each other, to perhaps create paintings that suggest fluidity and motion of the land, like time is passing before the viewer’s eyes.

Perhaps you will respond to this by exploring the mystery of border lines in the land that still remain and if they manifest artificiality, necessitated by the unbreakable connection of a certain group of people to a certain piece of land.

Does your art explore these lines in the land that are symbolic power of authority and how these lines are or are not shifting currently?

Entry is open today until Thursday 12th June 5pm

Entry fee is 20e for up to max 3 entries.

Works will be selected by an independent panel and selected artists will be notified by email by midday Sunday June 15th.

All selected works must be delivered to the gallery by Tuesday 17th June.

This Open Call will culminate in an exhibition curated by emerging Curator Mary Doyle Burke and renowned Irish artist Eamon Colman which will open Thursday 20th June 7pm and runs until Tuesday 9th July.
